The Bedroom

When I first saw this house, I think our now bedroom was used as a sitting room of sorts. There was an electric fireplace one wall (that sadly, Violet took with her) and 3/4 smokey toned mirrors and paneling on the bottom 1/4 on the other. Of course under that fabulous wall decor, was...wallpaper!!!

Sadly, this is the one picture I have of it.
We ripped out the carpet and re-finished the floors and my parents put up a small crown molding. The only mirror left is the one on the closet door, which is perfect! Although it is tinted so it is kind of dark.

Now, the room is much better. We recently painted it from a beige to this green I had custom mixed to match our new Marimekko bedding from Crate and Barrel. This color green is my new "signature" color. It is fresh and energizing.

Note Kiko in her heated window napper in this one:

Finally, a mention of the floors. But what's this "we" stuff? If I remember right, and Bob, you can back me up....it was me and your dad - you mysteriously went out of town that weekend. :) :) :)
What started out as a simple light screening and a new layer of poly became a complete sanding and refinishing....and I must say, your dad and I turned out a beautiful floor. :) :) :)
Love your walk down memory lane Amy. You should be proud of the improvements made to the house.

Yes, yes, I was "technically" not there the weekend you guys did them. I was thinking of working on them in spirit though. I had to go to Niagara Falls for work in the middle of the winter. Not exactly anything fun!!!

But the floors are great thanks to you and my parents! xo

I LOVE all the house pics! Your house looks great & I love the green paint you used in the bedroom...I know we have similar houses since I live in the shores, did you replace all the doors & closet doors with 6 panel white doors? WE really want to do that this summer after painting the rooms!!

Jen - thanks! :)
Yes, we replace them all. They used to be accordion plastic ones...ICK! It is not an easy project because the jams were not square, so there was a lot of planing and sanding and swearing. But, totally worth it. Updates the whole place.
